A Whirlwind of Firsts!

Welcome to our Blog!

We are so happy to have you here! I (Lisa) am sitting down to write to you after our whirlwind debut at the Gifford Park Neighborhood Market 2 weeks ago, and the first annual Porchfest OMA this past weekend. We are thankful and thrilled at the welcome we’ve been given in the neighborhood and city!

I do mean it, when I say our debut was a“whirlwind,” mind you. Up until about a month ago we had directed all of our energies toward creating the concept of Myrtle & Cypress, talking to banks, securing our location, designing logo and basically just dipping our big toe into the waters of business start-up. So when we decided that we absolutely HAD to introduce ourselves to you all at the last two Markets of the summer, we knew it was time to put on our aprons and get to work!

This past month of preparation has meant the joy of finally bringing our vision of a neighborhood coffee house out of the clouds and down to the ground. We bought our very first piece of coffee equipment, spent hours in the kitchen testing recipes, and continued to press into finding our style. It’s been exhilarating and exhausting! Thank you so much to everyone who has supported this endeavor.

In keeping with the flow of the last month, we’re excited to introduce you to another first for M&C….this Blog! In it, we are hoping to share in more detail the ins and outs of Myrtle & Cypress. Though we won’t be opening our doors until late spring, we want to give you a sneak peek into the beauty and significance of deeply investing in place, the process of building our business, and our four values: Rooting in Gifford Park, Local Collaboration, Hospitality, and Holistic Well Being.
